Wine event Saturday October 17th 2026: Podere Salicutti, Tuscany
Our very first major wine event at Nobelhart, way back in 2016, took us to Tuscany. To be honest, it was also our last. We’ve decided it’s about time we changed that. And, as always, this evening comes with a rather special Nobelhart connection.
Salicutti was founded in 1996 by Francesco Leanza, at a time when hardly anyone paid much attention to this particular corner of Montalcino. He was the one who first made the land viable for viticulture, laying the foundations for what is now considered one of the region’s most exciting Brunello estates. Salicutti also became the first organically certified winery in Montalcino, long before organic farming became fashionable.
Billy has known and loved Salicutti’s wines since 2001. The connection grew even closer when Sabine and Felix Eichbauer took over the estate. The Eichbauer family has helped shape the history of German gastronomy through Tantris, whose former long-time head chef Hans Haas once even graced our Nobelhart kitchen. Felix and Sabine have continued Francesco Leanza’s work with enormous care and respect. The vineyard is treated as a living ecosystem, where compost, biodiversity, bees, chickens, birds, and vines all play their part.
And then there are the wines themselves. Hailing from the heat of Montalcino, they nonetheless have surprisingly little in common with what many people expect from Tuscany. Felix and Sabine are passionate lovers of Pinot Noir from Burgundy, and somehow you can taste that in their Brunellos. They have finesse, freshness, and elegance without ever sacrificing depth. Brunello with an almost Burgundian sensibility.
